The General Administration of Customs (GAC) has declared that starting on July 20, 2026, China will permit qualified coffee beans from all 53 African nations with diplomatic relations to enter its market. After dried chilies, coffee beans are the second category of African agricultural products to receive complete quarantine access to the Chinese market, according to the GAC. Coffee beans are a trademark agricultural commodity and a key economic sector for many African nations.

Trans Nzoia

Trans Nzoia has created a new policy to address long-standing issues impacting productivity throughout the county in order to achieve sustainable change in the agriculture sector. Before the draft Agroecology Policy is presented to the county assembly for approval and implementation, it will first be discussed with the public. Members of the executive committee were sensitized to the proposed policy by the Department of Agriculture, Irrigation, Livestock, and Fisheries. The policy is anticipated to be ready for implementation in the following three months. County executives, technical officers, development partners, and agriculture stakeholders convened at the forum to discuss the draft document's main recommendations and assess the policy's development.

Farmers in western Kenya and Rift Valley counties are anticipated to sustain production following near-average to above-average rainfall during the March to May season, according to the authority's quarterly outlook report for July to September, which was published on June 1.

After the near-average to above-average rainfall from March to May, near-average to below-average rainfall in the Highlands West of the Rift Valley, the Lake Victoria Basin, the Rift Valley, and North-western Kenya is expected to sustain agricultural production, KMSA said.

However, the weatherman cautions that a cool, overcast forecast is predicted for places like Nairobi, Nyeri, Murang'a, Kiambu, Kericho, and Bomet, which could postpone crop maturity.
